Click here to go to the blogRBF is proud to bring to its members an innovative and exciting way to enable local business to enhance their success and sustainability - the Ryde Business Blog. Click on the graphic at right to to the blog (opens in new window).

The blog will provide the following benefits to members:

  • Exposure to potential new customers (either RBF members or non-members)
  • General search engine optimisation benefits
  • Local search engine benefits for those who do business mainly with Ryde based customers
  • An opportunity to engage with the idea of blogging and the possibility of creating a blog for their own business
  • It is likely to generate interest from the media

Participating in this blog is an opportunity to get more business through your doors but the way it works is not the traditional approach of ‘Here we are and here’s how great we are’ but rather through being of service through firstly educating others and only then adding your corporate info and web link at the end of your blog post. This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses in the City of Ryde to share knowledge and learn from each other, building a stronger business community.

At the time of its launch in early 2008 the Ryde Business Forum blog is, to our knowledge, the only blog run by an Australian local business association. We do hope you'll use our blog, and use it often.

What's a blog and what goes on it?

The term blog comes from 'weblog', which in its early days was a form of online diary or journal. Once the domain of individuals, blogs are now increasingly being used by companies to promote discussion and enhance communication with clients and potential clients. It's like an online magazine - in this case with you as the author, commentator or reader.

We hope that this blog will give you the opportunity to enhance your brand and drive more leads through the door through posting your tips and hints, or engaging with others using the comments function. As the blog grows, the number of categories available to post a blog to will increase. Members can use the blog to discuss news items of interest or other matters that affect the business community.

For example:

  • HR companies might like to provide interview technique hints
  • IR specialists the lowdown on legislative changes
  • retailers insight on spending trends
  • real estate agents their thoughts on property trends for the region
  • telecommunications suppliers how SMEs can use communication technology to generate more business or their thoughts about future innovations
  • removalists their hints for making office moves smoother

...you get the picture.

Possible sources for blog posts could include:

  • Information already included in a company newsletter
  • Excerpts from articles you have written
  • News of importance to the average SME
  • Issues you have recently been dealing with and talking to colleagues about

…really anything that is going to help the average Ryde based SME and is non-promotional in nature. You'll be able to add your contact details in your signature.
