Macquarie Park: Destination Innovation is a sellout success

Destination InnovationThe Auditorium at North Ryde RSL Community Club was packed to capacity on 23 November as more than 170 guests heard from an expert panel on the future possibilities for Macquarie Park as an employment hub.

The breakfast was hosted by RBF in partnership with the NSW Department of Planning & Environment. RBF thanks the Department for its invaluable assistance in making the event such a success.

Speakers on the panel were:

  • Garry White – NSW Chief Planner
  • Ben Howett – NSW Deputy Government Architect
  • Petra Andren – CEO Cicada Innovations
  • Mark Broomfield – Director of Property
  • The Hon Victor Dominello MP, NSW Minister for Innovation

with James O’Loghlin doing a fantastic job as the event MC.

After the panel’s presentations a Q&A session was opened, and a key concern raised was that of the ratio of housing to commercial development in the precinct.  One audience member stated that a high ratio of housing had ruined Chatswood as a business hub and was reassured the same would not happen in Macquarie Park. Macquarie Park is to be an urban commercial hub with a focus on innovative businesses and research organisations.

An audio recording of the Q&A session is available to listen to below. We apologise that this is not a direct microphone feed but was recorded on a mobile device.
