Business After Hours, 5 April 2009

At the age of five most of us wanted to be astronauts, firemen, ballerinas or princesses. Usually career aspirations change by the time we enter high school, and this is where North West Business Education Network (NWBEN) helps secondary students to decide on a career. NWBEN provides a catalyst for local companies and schools to work together, providing students with work experience in their chosen field. There are several different programs available through NWBEN’s services, and the 75 guests at our April Business After Hours were given an overview of the opportunities available for businesses to take an active role in the community and possibly gain a fantastic trainee or future employee into the bargain. If you have pride in what your company does, why not share your enthusiasm with a student and guide them on a satisfying career path? Contact NWBEN on 9440 9656.

Our BAH was held at Eden Gardens. For several guests it was their first visit, and they had the chance to view the beautiful display gardens in daylight before our function really got underway. If you haven’t been to Eden Gardens yet it combines a garden centre with award-winning display gardens, a lifestyle emporium, horticultural and environmental education, an art gallery and a cafe that guests can confirm serves truly delectable food. The brainchild of Simon and Anna Ainsworth, Eden Gardens has been trading and winning business awards for four years now. The concept has expanded interstate to Victoria and Queensland. It’s the realisation of a dream that is now one of the jewels in Ryde’s crown. Our thanks to Anna, Simon and team for their generosity in hostintg a wonderful night and explaining their community involvement to a wider audience.

Cameron Recruitment, which only joined us last month, was drawn from our barrel as Business of the Month. Find out more here.
