Review: Business After Hours hosted by Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW

Arthritis NSW is celebrating 50 years of helping people live better with arthritis – and RBF was delighted to help them celebrate this milestone with Business After Hours on Monday 1 May.

Sandra Vincent, CEO of Arthritis NSW, and Allan Ryan, President, welcomed more than 60 members and guests of RBF and Ryde Macquarie Park Chamber of Commerce to their North Ryde office. You could barely see the golden balloons in the shape of ’50’ for the crowd; a terrific networking function with many new first time visitors.

Sandra spoke about the camps Arthritis NSW runs for children and teens. See the video about Camp Footloose here.

Andrew Cairns gave a brief power point presentation about arthritis and the workplace – Arthritis in the Workplace Presentation – May 2017. (PDF file to download)

Arthritis NSW receives no government funding, so if you would like to become a supporter or sponsor and help them assist their members with products and services to make their lives literally less painful, Sandra and the team would love to hear from you. Sponsors always receive acknowledgement – and in this case Brown Brothers Wine provided the excellent wines and sparkling on the night.

It was also a milestone event for RBF – we signed a Heads of Agreement with Ryde Macquarie Park Chamber to amalgamate into a new organisation, Riverside Business Chamber.

Who spoke?

Tony Abboud congratulated Andrew Hill and Karen Laing on achieving Finalist status in the 2017 NSW Business Chamber North Eastern Sydney Business Awards – and proudly told guests that RBF had also been chosen as a finalist, in the Chamber of Commerce category. He invites all members and guests to join our corporate table for the Awards night on Friday 12 May – contact Sabrina Ferguson for more info.

Lydia Scuglia, Chairman of The Fusion Foundation, reminded people that the Signature Dinner / Gala Ball is on Friday 27 October. There is an Early Bird offer on at the moment until 30 June – you could win back the cost of your tickets in a special draw for Early Birds. Book at The Fusion Foundation website.

Matthew Whitby, Sponsorship Executive of the World Chambers Congress, spoke about the Congress which will be held in Darling Harbour this September. Chambers of Commerce from around the globe will descend on Sydney. Members of any local Chamber may attend the Congress, and there are opportunities to have a stall in the associated Exhibition.

Clr Bill Pickering, Mayor of Ryde, spoke about developing more affordable housing in Ryde, and also the potential Council amalgamations, which are currently pending a court case from Hunter’s Hill Council.

Rob Wilkinson of Ryde Sports Foundation invited guests to the Annual Awards Dinner this Friday night at Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club, with special guest Louise Sauvage. Tickets are $50/head all food and drinks inclusive. Contact Rob now to book your tickets.

Meyer Mussry of Savant Corporation was drawn out of the bowl for Business of the Month.

  • Carmen Santucci of HCF Macquarie Centre, who won a pack of Brown Brothers Wines
  • Tony Abboud of Snowden Parkes Estate Agents, who won a visit by Andrew Cairns to the Snowden Parkes office to assess the workplace for ergonomics and the potential for reducing the onset of arthritis in staff.
