Roy Newsome acting GM at City of Ryde after Danielle Dickson’s departure

Last week the City of Ryde Acting General Manager, Ms Danielle Dickson, resigned to take up a role at Gosford Council as their Director Environment and Planning.

Ms Dickson was employed by the City of Ryde in 2011 as Group Manager Community Life and over the past eight months has been working in the Acting General Manager’s role.

Throughout her tenure with Council, Ms Dickson oversaw the completion of the much anticipated all-inclusive playground Livvi’s Place at Yamble Reserve, the opening of the West Ryde Community Centre, renovation of Eastwood Library, the relocation of Community Life staff to Council’s Pope Street premises and a number of critical open space Masterplans.

In the role of Acting General Manager, Ms Dickson has overseen the implementation of a strategy to respond proactively to long-term financial challenges and has reinvigorated the Council’s community engagement framework, giving members of the community a stronger voice in what happens in their local area. In recent times, Ms Dickson has also steered the Council through a period of intense media and public scrutiny.

Council would like to express its appreciation to Ms Dickson for her service to the City of Ryde and wishes her every success in her new role at Gosford City Council.

Roy Newsome (Group Manager Corporate Services) has been appointed as Acting General Manager. He assumed the role on Monday 26 August 2013.
