Ryde Games and Commonwealth Baton running in July – fun for our corporates

The Glasgow 2014 Queen’s Baton Relay visits all the Commonwealth Nations en route to the XX Glasgow Commonwealth Games, which will be held 23 July till 3 August 2014. The Baton visited the Gold Coast, hosts for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, in November 2013.

Andrew Hill, local tennis and sports coach, was part of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Baton relay in Sydney, which he describes as an unforgettable experience.

β€œIt is inspiring to be part of the Baton Run, so we thought we would share the Games theme around Sydney. Through the SportsSTAR program, we will activate communities around Sydney Olympic Park – Ryde, Parramatta, Auburn – with Fun Games and photo opportunities during the school holidays – 30th Jun to 11th July,” Andrew said.

“Kids can represent their school at the FREE Games as part of the SportsSTAR program in Sydney Olympic Park. There’s no need to book – just come along prepared for lots of fun.”

Kids and teens can participate in pairs or team events.

Doubles – Tennis, Table Tennis, Handball. Putts and Bowls

Teams of 5 – Soccer, Cricket, Volleyball, Dart Tag, Dodge Ball

“It is not just for the kids. There are events for parents, corporates and our new group – the KEENAGERS (Aged 50+ and active) in the local areas. There is a $5 entry for Big Kids at the The STARS Sports Centre in Marsfield with money raised going to the local CCA community aid youth projects,” Andrew said. “We’ll be holding events for adults at breakfast time and after work.”
