Sydney Water has advised City of Ryde that planned sewer works are required to be undertaken to the pit located in the footpath of Market Street, West Ryde, near the car park entrance to West Ryde Marketplace.
Whilst quieter works are currently being conducted at night, to minimise disruption to nearby businesses, some works have been scheduled from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays in order to minimise noise disruptions to nearby residents. Theses daytime works are due to commence Monday 12 October 2015 for two weeks (weather permitting).
Sydney Water’s nominated contractor for these works is Interflow Pty Ltd. For any enquiries related to the work, please contact Chris Peat from Interflow on 1800 233 076. For emergency assistance, please call the Sydney Water 24 hour Emergency Service Centre on 13 20 90.
Due to the location of the manhole, Sydney Water’s contractor requires three parking spaces on the eastern side of Market Street for their vehicles and excavators.
Under the Sydney Water Act 1994, Sydney Water’s contractors can undertake works of this nature without Council approval. Although City of Ryde is working with Interflow to ensure public safety is paramount and that the parking spaces are only to be used when works are actually occurring. Parking spaces are to be returned for use by the public at all other times and the ‘P DISABILITY ONLY’ zone is not to be occupied at all.
Council has also requested that Interflow send letters to local businesses to provide them with further information on the works.
If you find that Interflow are unnecessarily obstructing parking or you’ve had no positive response from Interflow regarding an issue caused by the works, please don’t hesitate to Patrick Bastawrous, Traffic Development Engineer through our Customer Service Centre on 9952 8222, or Claudia Micallef, Community Engagement Coordinator on 9952 8493.
