Trade with China a reality for our members with NSWBC’s Export Growth China program

Export Growth China was officially unveiled at a ceremony in Sydney this morning, attended by senior Chinese Government officials, including Mr Yu Ping, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The program is an exclusive service to any Local, Regional and State Chamber members, and will utilise a custom-designed showroom in Shanghai to feature Australian products ready to be sold to Chinese wholesale buyers.

Avoiding cost and frustration

This initiative has been something the NSW Business Chamber has been working on for more than two years. CEO Stephen Cartwright led a trade delegation of Australian small-to-medium sized businesses (SMEs) to Shanghai in early 2012, and was struck by how well other countries, including New Zealand, marketed themselves and their products.

“Upon my return to Australia, it became clear that there was a gap in the market. For many small-to-medium businesses – especially those in regional Australia – the cost and complexity of exporting to the world’s largest economy is daunting,” Mr Cartwright said.

Export Growth China is a dedicated program that addresses this gap in the market by connecting SME products and services to Chinese export opportunities.

Led by the Chamber Movement

Export Growth China is an initiative of the Australian Chamber Movement and this program received funding from the Australian Government as part of the Asian Business Engagement plan.

Members are the lifeblood of our Chamber Movement, from International, National and State-based Chambers, through to the powerful networks formed by our own members in Ryde Business Forum and local Chambers of Commerce, and many others at a community level.

The strength of the national Chamber Movement also means that we can take away a lot of the pain from businesses across Australia. Any member of a Chamber of Commerce throughout Australia is able to take advantage of this opportunity.

If you are not a Ryde Business Forum or local Chamber member, and would like to export to China, this is a compelling reason to join your Chamber or RBF – spread the word!

“I strongly believe that the Export Growth China is a program that enhances the value and appeal of membership, providing local businesses in your area with yet another reason to join your Local Chamber,” said Stephen Cartwright.

“We are now taking registrations, and the whisper campaign has already seen us inundated in recent weeks as business owners have heard about the new service offering in China,” he said.
