It may come as a news to many members that the head-office of Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW is located in North Ryde. The charitable health organisation is marking its 50th anniversary this year, launched at the Ryde Business Forum – which it hosted – back in May. During Arthritis Awareness Week in June, celebrations continued with a sausage sizzle for all businesses in the Delhi Corporate office complex, as well as various media spots across NSW.
The vision of Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW is ‘Freedom from Arthritis’. As CEO Sandra Vincent reported in the recent edition of their magazine ‘Arthritis Matters’: “Ultimately, we would all like to see a cure for arthritis which would result in our vision being realised in literal terms. Whilst we work towards that goal, freedom will mean different things to different people. For some, it will mean the freedom to live their lives independently, being able to carry-out normal daily living tasks, free from the constraints too often imposed by the disease. For others, such as younger people with juvenile arthritis, it may mean the freedom to test boundaries – physical and social – in a safe environment free from stigma and bullying.”
The organisation works towards improving the quality of life for those affected by arthritis, osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal conditions. The range of services delivered include information resources, health education events, exercise programs, and camps for children living with juvenile arthritis. If you would like to support the great work done by Arthritis & Osteoporosis NSW, please consider making a donation, or get your business involved in sponsoring one of their health programs or kids camps.
