CCA celebrates 50 years serving the community at our Business After Hours

PartygoersIt was party time in Ryde last night as members of RBF, Ryde Macquarie Park Chamber and North Epping Rotary celebrated with host Christian Community Aid (CCA). Since 1965 CCA has been helping those less fortunate in our community: a meals service to the elderly, community transport, financial counselling, youth services, family day care and helping refugees who have absolutely nothing when they arrive in Ryde are just some of the things CCA does to help others. See all about CCA here on its website.

Despite below average temperatures outside guests mingled to the sounds of a jazz duo before heading into the warmth for the formalities.

MC for the night Stefan Sojka (otherwise known as President of Ryde Macquarie Park Chamber) kept things moving, with guest speakers including Lydia Scuglia (President RBF), John Alexander MP (Member for Bennelong), Peter Garrard (President North Ryde Rotary), Supt Duncan Eddington (Eastwood LAC), Heather Pinto (General Manager CCA) and Charles Kilby (President CCA).

The party was also a means of fundraising, with Stefan auctioning two shiny new guitars donated by The Guitar Factory in Gladesville, and a serenade by international baritone Peter Martin. A silent auction ran during the evening with a wide range of items up for grabs including artwork and wine. If you would like to help CCA continue the essential work they do, please donate online here.

No party is complete without a cake and John Alexander helped Heather Pinto and Charles Kilby do the ceremonial cutting.
