RBF’s President Lydia Scuglia was awarded the prestigious Ryde Woman of the Year 2013 award by The Hon Victor Dominello MP, Member for Ryde, at the Combined Chambers Christmas Party held on 6 December.
The local Women of the Year awards, for which women are nominated by Members of Parliament, recognise women who have made wonderful contributions to their local communities.
A successful business woman in her own right – the owner of Harvey World Travel Top Ryde City – Lydia has been an integral part of the community where she was born and bred. Her caring nature is joined by an enthusiasm to see our community progress and flourish and her generosity always enables others to join her journey.
In conjunction with her business and family commitments Lydia volunteered for the Board of Eastwood Chamber in 2001 and became President in 2003. She continued in this role until 2009. She left to take an executive committee position with Ryde Business Forum and became President in 2011.
Under Lydia’s patronage, these community business groups have assisted organisational committees for community celebrations including the Ryde Rivers Festival and Granny Smith Festival.
Lydia has served the Ryde City Council on the Economic Development and Advisory Committee, was a Board member of Macquarie Community College and is an active member of Macquarie Park Rotary Club.
The Board and members of RBF congratulate Lydia on a well-deserved award recognising the valuable contribution she has made to our community.
