Review: Business After Hours 2 May hosted by Ryde Hunters Hill Community Transport

Ryde Hunters Hill Community Transport provides an essential service to the aged and frail, to younger people with a disability and other vulnerable people in our society, helping them get to doctors and specialists, and to local shops and on outings so they can enjoy vital social contact.

Virginia Coy and her team hosted a friendly and informative Business After Hours, with home made canapes served by staff members at Huntley’s Cove Clubhouse. She spoke about the wide range of services RHHCT provides. One of RHHCT’s drivers, Ken Stammers, spoke about how the Friday shopping trip to Gladesville Shopping Village has evolved and how closely RHHCT works with its clients to provide a personalised, friendly service. Clr Artin Etmekdjian is the President of RHHCT and spoke about his involvement with the organisation. He encouraged others to join the Board as the commitment is roughly 15 hours a year.

Did you know you can hire one of RHHCT’s buses for weekend use? It’s a great way to take an extended family to an important event, cheaper than taking multiple taxis, and you’re helping a fantastic service in our area.

Other speakers on the night were:

  • Clr Craig Chung, City of Ryde, who mentioned that the Design Our Ryde entries for redeveloping the Civic Centre are on view, and that Council will be moving this month into a building in the Binary Centre at North Ryde
  • Yvonne Dornan, President of Gladesville Chamber of Commerce, who also spoke about redevelopment and pondered when Gladesville Shopping Village would be redeveloped
  • David Tompkins, President of West Ryde Chamber of Commerce, decline to speak but said the rumour that Ryde Toyota had a ‘buy one get one free’ deal on vehicles was untrue 🙂

Arthur Rimagmos of Artisan Promotional Products was drawn out of the box for Business of the Month. Whether you want a very small number of items or thousands branded with your company name, he can help. Contact him on 9817 7671.

RHHCT provided two bottles of wine as lucky draw prizes, and these were won by Anna Buddo of Hunters Hill Ryde Community Services and Charles Lee of Minuteman Press Gladesville.

You’re invited to Ryde Hunters Hill Community Transport’s 30th Anniversary Dinner, to be held in the Grand Pittwater Room at North Ryde RSL Community Club (cnr Pittwater and Magdala Roads, North Ryde).

The event will be held on Friday 15th July, 6.30 for 7pm. Dress is semi-formal.  The cost is $50 per person.
